Tourists / visitors Visa
If you are planning to visit your family in Canada or if you want to stay in Canada on vacation or business, you must have a visa. Foreigners exempt from the obligation of visa need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
In order to obtain a visa, certain requirements are needed:
- Be in a good health;
- Have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
- Convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
- Convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit

- The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.Have enough money for your stay.

- If required, get an immigration medical exam
- If necessary, have a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada and who agrees to help you financially. Proof of funds can include the most recent tax year notice of assessment, pay stubs, letter of employment, bank statements.
Parents and grandparents Super Visa (Family in Canada)
If your children or grandchildren are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada, you can apply for a Parent and Grandparent Super Visa. The maximum validity of the Super Visa is 10 years. Parents and grandparents can stay in Canada for up to two years without having to renew the status as a visitor. To be eligible for a Super Visa, you must, in addition to meeting the Visitor Visa requirements,
- Have a signed letter of support from your child or grandchild.
- Have proof that your child’s or grandchild’s household meet the minimum necessary income (notice of assessment from the most recent tax year, pay stubs, letter of employment, bank statements).
- Have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is at least $100,000 coverage for 1 year
